Series Overview

The Seven Deadly Sins aren't a medieval relic, and they aren't a checklist of the worst things on the evening news. They are something far more uncomfortable — a pastoral map of what's quietly going on inside the average person sitting in the average Sunday-morning seat. Pride, greed, lust, sloth, gluttony, wrath, and envy don't tend to look ugly in our zip codes. They look like wisdom. Like planning. Like self-care. Like a curated life. That is exactly what makes them deadly. Each one, however, is a counterfeit god promising the very thing only Jesus actually gives: security, love, identity, rest, joy, justice, enough. And each one quietly kills the thing it pretends to protect. In this series we aren't setting out to be better rule-followers; we are setting out to expose what has us, name it for what it is, and let Jesus set us free. Which leaves us with one question for the next seven weeks: what is this sin promising me that only Jesus can give?
