Series Overview
Jesus understood how central prayer is to our life with God, and yet his teaching on how to pray was startlingly short. In fact, many of us have stopped truly hearing the depth he offers us in just a handful of lines. So, this August we're going to slow down and walk through the Lord's Prayer one phrase at a time. Our hope is to discover that Jesus didn't just give us words to repeat, but a whole new way to come to God. We'll begin with the two words that change everything, Our Father, and the radical intimacy of a God who wants to be called Dad. We'll pray the biggest prayer there is, "your kingdom come," and find that it isn't all about us. We'll bring our most human needs, bread and forgiveness, to a Father who invites us to ask. And we'll end where the prayer ends, not in our own strength, but in God's power at work in our lives, "delivering us from evil." Along the way we'll find that prayer moves from intimacy to majesty, from Our Father to Amen, and by the end we won't just know how to pray, we'll know why prayer works. Not because of what we say, but because of who he is. So join us this August for The Lord's Prayer.
