School Clubs…
We encourage our young people to make disciples in their spheres of influence.
If you are a young person you might be thinking, “What? I’m too young.” But the original disciples were teenagers. In Matthew 17 when Peter, Jesus and the disciples went to Capernaum only Jesus and Peter paid temple tax.
Many of our students lead Jesus clubs on their school campus’ in partnership with FCA or YOUTH Alpha.
UNITE Gatherings
One of the biggest criticisms of the Capital “C” Church is that we aren’t unified. We’ve long prayed that when our students grow into adulthood, that statement will hold no weight for them. We want their memories of their school years to reflect a unified church. That’s one reason we participate in a citywide worship movement called Unite.
Unite gatherings happen twice a year:
Fall: We join a regional event focused on Beaverton/Tigard, alongside 6–7 other networks. This gathering centers on praying for our schools and jumpstarting Christian clubs on campus, with a big emphasis on reaching students right where they are.
Spring: Typically, 50+ youth ministries come together to celebrate what God is doing in schools and to proclaim the gospel. In Portland, it can sometimes feel like you’re on your own—but gatherings like this help students see that they are part of a much larger family.
